Happened to catch shots of this beautiful wood duck that I came across while visiting Willey Pond up in the Crawford Notch area in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. I never saw one of these before, and was truly amazed by its beautiful colors, and this is the male.
You might wonder how the Wood Duck got its name.. because they nest in tree cavities, are found in wooden swamps and woodlands near ponds, streams, and rivers. Their range expands the United Sates, and at one time the wood duck was so prevalent it was considered as a possible national symbol!
